Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) connects local farmers directly with community members who want fresh, seasonal food. By purchasing a CSA share, individuals and families support farmers at the start of the season and, in return, receive a regular box of locally grown produce—and sometimes eggs, meat, or other farm products. This model helps strengthen the local food system, provides farmers with reliable income, and ensures that community members enjoy fresh, nutritious food while supporting conservation-minded agriculture close to home.

  • Community Supported Agriculture supports a variety of factors. By participating in a CSA, consumers can benefit from:

    • High quality, nutritious food: Food is typically harvested right before distribution, ensuring food stays fresher longer and has a higher nutritional value.

    • Direct connections to local producers: Consumers are able to directly ask producers about growing practices and learn more about their local food systems.

    • Supports local food systems: Local food stays local, saving transportation costs and energy.

  • A CSA is a relationship between farmers and community members who pay annual membership fees to help cover the farms' production costs. In return for being a member, individuals and families receive a weekly "share" of the farm's production during the growing season.

  • Watch for the Colorado Proud logo when shopping at grocery stores, farmers' markets, garden centers, or restaurants. By buying locally grown, raised, and processed food and agricultural products, you'll access high-quality fresh produce and support Colorado's economy and local farmers, ranchers, greenhouses, manufacturers, and processors in your area.
