Mesa Conservation District

Local Working Group

June 11, 2024

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Colorado State University Western Colorado Research Center

3170 B 1/2 Rd. Grand Junction, CO 81503

Each year Mesa Conservation District is tasked with hosting a ‘Local Work Group’ to gather a list of priority natural resource concerns for our area. This information is collected and passed on to the Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS). They use this data to help them determine funding and program priorities for our region.

Our very own Colorado Soil Health Program producer, Tomek Barc of Happy Hive Farm is being featured as Western Colorado Alliance's first "Family To Farm" tour in this year's series. Happy Hive raises pasture-fed chickens using regenerative farming practices. It is truly a happy life for the chickens who spend their days roaming free on the farm and sleeping their nights away in a warm coop safe from the foxes. Come meet some happy chickens at Happy Hive, and enjoy a petting zoo with chicks and baby rabbits!
The farm tour will be held on May 18th at 9 am.
