Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Grand Valley Water Committee Coordinator (GVWC) to lead efforts in building a sustainable and resilient watershed community. This role is vital in coordinating the GVWC, increasing community engagement, and implementing robust watershed management practices. The Coordinator will oversee the development of a self-sustaining watershed group, identify key projects, and manage the design and implementation of strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

●     Collaborate directly with the  Director and Board of Supervisors (BOS) to manage ongoing projects.

●     Attend all BOS meetings, providing timely updates on the status of initiatives.

●     Work alongside the  District Manager to fulfill all grant reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with timelines and metrics.

●     Coordinate with the Director to engage and educate the community about the GVWC’s activities and goals.

●     Develop and lead project teams to create a 3-year GVWC program plan.

●     Design and implement a comprehensive GVWC communications plan.

●     Develop a Watershed Management Matrix to identify and prioritize projects based on existing local plans.

●     Oversee the planning and execution of 2-4 “shovel-ready” projects within the watershed, adhering to grant timelines.

●     Lead the process of hiring and managing design and engineering contractors for selected projects.

●     Ensure project designs are completed and submitted according to grant requirements.

Qualifications:

●     Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.

●     2-5 years of experience in project management, preferably within the environmental or conservation sectors is required.

●     Demonstrated experience with state or federal grant funding, including reporting and compliance.

●     Proven ability to work with peers and manage a team effort to meet the project milestones timeline and grant requirements.

●     Strong interpersonal skills with experience leading stakeholder meetings.

●     Excellent technical writing skills.

●     Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.

●     Ability to work independently, a demonstrated “ self-starter”

●     History of managing multiple projects to completion with attention to detail and little oversight.

●     Knowledge of our regional watershed hydrology and soil features is preferred.
