I joined the Mesa Conservation District because I felt like there was a void in the community when it went dormant, and I knew other Conservation Districts played important roles in educating and bringing resources to their communities. Through coordinating the Hutchins Water Center at Colorado Mesa University for over ten years, I had developed a good basic understanding of local and regional water issues, as well as a network of contacts and an awareness of grant funding opportunities, which I thought could be useful to share on the Board.
